72 (OMAGH) SQN. A.T.C.

THE SQUADRON FOR YOU WEST OF THE BANN

What We Do

The squadron exists to provide it's personnel with an interesting, challenging and worthwhile use of their spare time.

Without our adult volunteers the squadron would not exist.  Without our young people the squadron would not exist.  We are mutually exclusive and work together to achieve excellence.

OUR AIMS

1. To promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and our air force.

2. To provide training which will be useful, both in service and civilian life.

3. To foster the spirit of adventure and to develop the qualities of leadership and good citizenship

 OUR MISSION

"Our mission is to provide a worthwhile and challenging pursuit fort the young people of the Town of Omagh and the surrounding area. In accordance with the aims of the Air Training Corps."

The Air Training Corps (ATC) was formed by Royal Warrant in 1941 and sprang from the Air Defence Cadet Corps, founded in 1938 by the Air League.  Although initially formed to meet the needs of a nation at war, the Corps continues to thrive as it enters the 21st Century.  There are now independent Air Cadet Organizations in many other countries throughout the World.  Today it continues to thrive and helps a new generation of young people, aged 13 to 20, to find a positive purpose in life.
